Vamp Fest 2009 and Barnes & Noble

Wahhhh! Despite my best efforts, (which included driving a leeetle bit faster than I'm used to because of being thrown off schedule due to my daughter's High School State band competition going into the wee hours of the morning)I missed my panel at Vamp Fest!!! And to see all the wonderful photos being posted on Facebook doesn't make this reality any easier to take. Do go check the photos out.

They are wonderful!!

It wasn't all for naught though. I did make it to New Orleans, late and because of having kids and school the next day, unable to stay beyond the panel I MISSED, I managed to swing by the Metairie Barnes & Noble. They'd ordered 10 of Forever Richard, two of which had already sold and 5 of Never Ceese. Unlike in my local B&N here in Ridgeland, this is what I found upon entering the store.

My local B&N has two copies of Forever Richard tucked away in their "appropriate" place on the shelve with no copies of Never Ceese the paperback with some store employees claiming they can't get that book. Funny. This B&N had no problems neither did they have any problem putting it on an appropriate display and I'm not even local to them though I did live in Mandeville for four years, and loved it. Enough belly-achin' though. Do run over to the Metairie store and buy up these books. I'd really like for them to sell so my publisher and I don't have to eat them. I autographed five of each while I was there.

  1. oh, noooooo! The horror!! I feel so bad for you, Sue.

On the other hand, it's great that the B&N has your books on such prominent display. Maybe it will help if we, your fans and friends, go to nour local stores armed with copies of these pics.

  2. Thanks Bob!!! LOL I feel much better now. I actually tried to make it without breaking the law speeding but since I'm more like a single parent, I had to (at the last minute) get kids I thought had places to go, a way to go with me. I did learn something very important. I'm not volunteering for anything ever again. It's too disappointing when things happen and you can't make it. Off to continue my pity party.

  4. Sue, I cannot emphasize how awesome it is to see your books on this display, I am so excited for you! I know they carry your books anyway, but there is something about seeing yours in print mere inches away from Stephen King....impressive.

That's a bummer about Vamp Fest, but I'm sure you've already heard an ear full on that one. There's always next time...

  5. Yes. If I could kick myself harder about Vamp Fest I would!!! Then to see all those wonderful photographs on the site . . . I do believe NO is the place for this event.

But thank-you for your kind comments about. B&N can get my books but they won't automatically put them in their stores of course. I did ask for the Metairie store to put a few in because of Vamp Fest and I knew I'd be there but for them to automatically put them where they put them . . . well that rocked!!! :)

I can't even get my local B&N to do that. They don't act like they even care. It's really quite frustrating but this display makes up for it!!

Like you said, that's as close to Mr. King as I think I've ever been. LOL
