2009 Pluto Award finalists and Never Ceese!

Even with the teasing *and you know who you are ;)* I'd managed not to think about the finalists being listed today for the 2009 Pluto Awards, 12-23-09, or at least I'd forgotten it enough to be shocked when I saw the three finalists. Yes. Shocked! LOL

A story surrounding the lives of a werewolf and a vampire--a finalists in an award ceremony for Sci-Fi? Now I'll have nightmares trying to figure out how to market this little gem of a series. LOL Not to mention that this award is symbolic of what Christian readers want to see, a market whose industry won't talk about any author coming from outside their exclusive fee-paying publishers nor will they allow their authors to mention such authors in interviews etc . . . Ah, but this isn't the time for soapbox dancing. ;)

Never Ceese, short-listed in 2006 for a Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in a First Novel has moved on to be a finalist at the 2009 Pluto Awards! Lest we forget, for Richard's sake, Forever Richard was nominated as well.

Absolutely amazing to me and thank-you to all who voted. You made my Christmas!

God Bless you everyone!

  1. Indeed Joanne! And it means sooo much more coming from an award ceremony geared toward helping us "less than larger" published authors get the attention we can only dream about getting.

Having said that all I would add to those publishers overlooking the impact I've had on their market. "Don't talk about my stories but you'll still hear about them. Thanks to award ceremonies such as this one."

But yes! Thank-you Joanne (and fellow FW'r ;) for your congrats. It means a lot to me.

Sue, I had just taken three pans of cornbread out of the oven, and came to check my e-mails -- and your terrific news was right there, waiting for me in my inbox. Delish! :)

Congratulations on a well-earned accolade, and I'll have my fingers crossed for you that one book or the other (or both!) nabs the top spot!

  3. I was two minutes away from sending you an e-mail oh editor extrodinairre! ;)

Both Never Ceese and Forever Richard were nominated and I just learned this morning that Never Ceese is one of the top three finalists. I suspect the fact that this is a series will make it difficult for subsequent books to do quite as well but being nominated certainly ain't shabby. ;)

But look at Ceese go. I will never be able to thank you enough for all your guidance and ALL that you taught me through your edit. Yes. I still remember "a tincture of patience" though I still don't have much of it. HA!

Now send me some cornbread and Merry Christmas ARLENE!

  4. Sue, congratulations on your finalist nomination! Your books sound like a healthy counterpart to the Twilight series.

    Merry Christmas :-)

  5. @Amy Nah. My books are nothing like Twilight other than the story is spun around the concept of vampires and werewolves. My vamps and werewolves are those of lore for the most part and my story is far from a simple love story as such.

I do have many Twilight readers though but I suspect with the overall marketing blitz of this series, EVERYONE has many Twilight readers. LOL

  6. Sounds great, I'm on it! I just finished reading the posts on that page and it blew me away, too. It's quite inspiring to see the doors opening here, and to such diverse christian audiences.
