Okay local peeps there are still nine copies of Forever Richard at the Jackson Mississippi store available for you to go pick up and buy. I've no idea why they were ordered but there they are. If you don't go buy them they will send them back to the publisher and my publisher will have to pay the return shipping plus administrative fees plus have books that they now can't sell as new which means my publisher will go even deeper into the hole which will eventually sink Forever Richard if you don't go buy the books. And you don't even have to read it. Just go buy it. Heck you could resale it on ebay and maybe make a few cents. I'm just trying to protect my publisher and subsequently myself.
Do know for future reference, Books-A-Million no longer shows Forever Richard in their system. The only book written by Sue Dent they can order is the hardbacks that my first publisher kept after liquidating over 4000. I make no money off these books and never will. Books-A-Million can't even get Never Ceese the paperback into the store because it's through a POD.
Just please go buy the nine books so I don't have to eat them.
At least you can order both of my books through Barnes & Nobles and every other bookstore on the planet and Books-A-Million on-line shows it as available. But not showing up as ordeable in the store when it once did . . . that's just plain weird. I will say that Books-A-Million says they never send books back, thus ensuring that small presses don't lose money, but the fact is that they can if they want to and I've no doubt that they will when given the hard chose of eating the books themselves. Either that or they'll put them on clearance and then send them back.
Who knows. I just know I can't afford to risk it.
I have loathed Books-A-Million for years, due to their Nazi-esque way of doing business.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter how many people walk into a BAM and ask for your book...the minute they see it's POD, they will all but laugh the person out of the store.
I am no fan of BAM.
Get this, Forever Richard was in their system because it had distribution through Ingram (via a middle-man distributor who actually makes the money) but was recently pulled from in-store systems. Store employees can't even find it. I've see it's still orderable on-line and within 24 hours but that's it. Of course they won't touch Never Ceese the paperback because it's through Ingram's POD Lightning Source but they'll shelve Never Ceese the hardback which is out of print and available through a defunct publisher who pays me NOTHING and never has. How cool is that!
ReplyDeleteThere was a rep at a BAM outside of Orlando who fought and fought to get A Vampire Alone in their stores (it's printed via Lightning Source) and yet all the "higher ups" had to see what that LS is POD and so what did they do?
ReplyDelete"Oh no...can't have that in our store."
Like I said...I have no use for BAM and the fact that you get paid no money for those hardback copies of Never Cease is despicable.
BAM is totally whack. Just sayin'!
ReplyDeleteSue-- if I was in MS, I'd try to get one of those copies in store!
There are nine copies in their store of Forever Richard that is. There have been ten but they all sold. There have been ten of Never Ceese the hardback ordered even after I told them not to order them and apparently they all sold, (of course I got no money because it was from a now defunct publisher who has not paid me anything and won't.)
ReplyDeleteBoth Never Ceese, the official paperback and Forever Richard can be ordered by any bookstore in the known world and ordered. Forever Richard, because it isn't a POD can even be put on a shelf but since it's from a small house it will NOT be put in a place where anyone can see it and possibly buy it and it will then be sent back (because bookstores can do this) for a full refund and my publisher will have to pay shipping to return it and very possibly not even get a book back so I PREFER it not be ORDERED by any bookstore as these havens are for big name publishers ONLY!!!!
But thanks for the friendly thought. LOL ;)
