Oh for Pete's sake! Anne Rice confesses that after her conversion back to Catholicism, she's finally had it with the rhetoric spewed out by those who we're all sick of listening too. You know the drill: same sex attraction is evil and of the devil, fighting and bickering over doctrine instead of loving and accepting, twisting scripture to fit twisted beliefs etc . . . etc
So what's up? 95% (random number generated by my own limited research) of us dislike this fraction as well. We just ignore them. So Anne Rice has decided to ignore them too AND to go public with that decision . . . well, to at least air them out on FaceBook which FOXnews.com seems to think is public enough. The headline reads:
Anne Rice Quits Christianity
Well. I've been to Mrs. Rice's FB page and I can't see where she's quit anything. From what I read she's very much a follower of Christ. But this is FOX News so . . . well . . . I'm just saying *cough, cough Shirley Sherrod cough, cough* I'm sure it won't be long before it goes viral. So when it does just remember that Anne Rice hasn't said anything that the rest of us haven't been saying for well--FOREVER!!
Jesus himself was never more frustrated than he was with this group that Anne Rice has now confessed she too is unhappy with.
Oh but it does make for a catchy headline, doesn't it? ;)
AMEN Sue!
ReplyDeleteI have ALWAYS (and don't expect it to change) had SERIOUS issues with Catholicism because it is more hypocritical than Christianity could ever think of being!
I won't even get into it here, but I agree...so Anne Rice finally saw what a mistake it was going back to CATHOLICISM...doesn't mean that she's becoming an Athiest again.
And actually I don't know, after reading her FB page, that she was talking about Cahtolicism in general. She merely said Christianity. One should be able to follow basic Catholic doctrine or any doctrine for that matter without being subjected to heavy-handed believers who assert that if you don't believe the way they do, (or the way they think you should) then you aren't one of them.
ReplyDeleteIt is so heartbreaking to me that any other believer would be so hard on Anne surrounding her son who chooses to follow an alternative life-style. How he chooses to live his life is nobody's business.
And judging Anne because she chooses to LOVE him and SUPPORT him is about the most un-Christian thing I've EVER heard of!!!
What a shame.
Sue...I have always said that Christianity is the most hateful and hypocritical religion in the world - which is why so many people hate us.
ReplyDeleteOf course those who condemn us don't get to know all of us, they can't because the religo whack jobs far outnumber those of us who are decent.
I can relate to Anne and her stance.
I am a Country Folk Witch and being a Minister makes me even more of a target because people expect me to stand on street corners with signs, like the losers do and condemn everyone.
When they find out that I'm a Witch and want nothing to do with them and their whack-let's turn everyone off - version of how they've skewed Christianity, well...let's just say that it's a good thing stoning isn't legal any longer!
I may be a Christian, but I REFUSE to look at Christianity through rose-colored glasses. I know too much about it and have witnessed the devastation it can and HAS caused by those who pervert it for their own use.
Anne Rice has her opinions as everyone else does...I have my own opinions too. The main thing is that we appreciate that Jesus is our savior, and that He died for our sins on the cross. He was raised from the dead on the third day. Everything else is additional info. Just have child-like faith and the rest is gravy.
