Zondervan goes POD! Say it ain't so.

What's this? Zondervan does have a choice? Read on to understand.


Yes, that's right, Zondervan who founded Family Christian Bookstores but then sold out to Harper Collins and was then disowned by Family Christian due to the fact that they now belonged to the company who printed the Satanic Bible (which they claimed was a hostile take-over as if they had no choice, yeah right) is now going to use LSI, Ingram's POD for their US distribution. Don't believe me. Well here's the link!

I suppose the most important point to make here is that when Zondervan who founded Family Christian Bookstores for the exclusive distribution of their CBA targeted niche market titles and also for distribution of other targeted Christian fiction titles--when they went with Harper Collins and started taking flack from customers and store owners about going with a company that printed the Satanic Bible, their response was they COULDN'T back out. That they had NO choice. Well, well, well. Look who all of a sudden has a choice. What happened I wonder? What happened indeed!

So now we have Zondervan/Zonderkidz, Harper Collins' producer of CBA/ECPA targeted Christian fiction using a POD for distribution because being with Harper/Collins can't seem to do it for them. Like that's the problem. Well I hate to abuse the term but it is so fitting. Welcome to the jungle! Don't I love it!

    But you know, they will still be a better POD than those of us with small press publishers. *eye roll*

    So many traditional and larger publishing houses are now POD but somehow make it into bookstores.

    I say one word to fit all this nonsense...HYPOCRISY!!!

The real irony is that Zondervan and all the other targeted Christian publishers (not Christian publishers who don't use the broad label Christian to define their work thus making the label Christian fiction specific to one specific market)didn't flourish as they thought they would by not being specific about the niche market they provide fiction to.

    No. They won't get any more readers or sales. They're a niche market that serves a portion of Christian readers.

    When POD distribution doesn't work for them it won't be LSI's fault.AND they're already in larger bookstores because they have the big dog distribution. It is quite laughable. They got what they thought they needed with Harper Collins and now they're going to POD technology because they couldn't even work with that.

    I love they way they try to make it sound like this is the way to go. It's like a shipwreck survivor being in a lifeboat with paddles but deciding he's getting nowhere fast and jumps in the water with the sharks instead . . . because well, that's where everyone else is and they're doing fine.

    Like I said, come on in. The water's fine. *Sue bats a shark away as she's learned how to deal with them.* ;)
